Limited Edition
One-Way, Dead-End Street
by Wayne Buttery
Recorded Dec. 28th. 2011
Phase One Studio Toronto, ON
For this offering, I was inspired by a real-life conversation with someone I know. He was explaining how he unfortunately, fell victim to a relationship on the rocks. To highlight his frustration, I decided to deliver a lyrical question and answer which occurs during each chorus. The mood for the entire lyric is embedded within an angry and driving rhythm in an attempt demonstrates his exercise in futility.

There can never be enough love songs; songs that people can use to express themselves as an offering of their feelings and commitment. To capture this I knew I needed to deliver raw and simple emotions in a bed of air. Really, keeping the song uncluttered was the main goal. Limiting the instrumentation or rather the lack of instruments was difficult, knowing that the Groove Project is always entwined with a wealth of talent, it was hard not to invite the whole entourage on board. The rest was easy, as these guys are like part of me and delivered all the right ingredients to make it happen.

Get Myself A Dog
by Wayne Buttery
Recorded Dec. 28th. 2011
Phase Studio Toronto, ON
A typical slow, twelve-bar blues that lyrically speaks to how a man declares that he'd be treated better by the family pet then his life-partner. This is a story about infidelity, lies and deceit. No surprises in this one. It's simply straight ahead traditional blues in the twenty first century.

Hard Time, Not Mine
by Charlie Hinkel
Recorded Dec. 28th. 2011
Phase Studio Toronto, ON
Developing a story of unfortunate circumstance, a person doing time for a crime he didnt commit. We listen to his outpouring of innocence and understanding in hopes of saving a relationship and deliver these lyrics into a rolling Blues/jazz feel driven by a steady and solid performance by Dennis King on drums. Just to share with you a testament of trust and group trivia, the Groove Project has never used a click track on any of its recordings.
